As seen on News 12 today Friday May 1st, 2020 we are accepting applications for:

Please read the following important announcement.

COVID19 IMPORTANT UPDATE

We have placed a temporary HOLD on accepting any new
ADOPTION applications for puppies and dogs until May 18th.

We are STILL accepting applications for cats and kittens.
We are also accepting FOSTER applications for ALL our rescue pets.

We are placing a hold on new adoption applications for puppies and dogs to enable us to catch up with the many adoption applications already pending review. We continue to rescue and place animals into permanent and/or loving foster homes several days a week, including weekends, by appointment only from our mobile adoption units.

For those of you that have already submitted ADOPTION applications please read these important changes:

  • During this pandemic we are only adopting within NY due to the challenges of social distancing and individual adoption meet-ups. The same rules apply to fosters.
  • We are also only processing applications for adopters who are willing to cover the spay/neuter costs by either utilizing our veterinarian in Hewlett on Long Island at a reduced rate or a veterinarian of their choice with proof of spay/neuter required.
  • Cats and kittens will be spayed and neutered prior to adoption and some of our dogs will already be spayed and neutered, but the majority are not.

The ASPCA, where we take 80 percent of our adoptable pets for spay/neuter, has closed indefinitely leaving us with too many animals needing surgery and so many people wanting to adopt we simply cannot carry the financial burden for hundreds of applicants.

We apologize for this added expense however your adoption fee will still include your new pets Rabies, current DHPP, Bordatella, micro-chipping, worming, 4dx testing.

Our mission is not only to save those most in need but also to alleviate overpopulation of homeless pets, therefore, we have reached our “comfort level” of RHR pets on a wait list to be spayed or neutered. To that end we find ourselves in a difficult situation to accommodate both our adopters and maintain our high adoption standards.

Thank you for your understanding and patience and especially your desire to provide a loving home for an animal in need.

Your new pet will be worth wait!

During this time, there are still many ways you can help us save homeless pets!
